OUR PURPOSE AND GOALS
The VI Raiders is a once in a lifetime opportunity that allows young men to learn life skills that will help them transition into becoming successful leader.
The Raider program is built on a strong tradition and involves a large network of community members (players, parents, peers, volunteers, alumni, coaches) that work hard to make the Raiders Football team the best they can be.
Our goal is to be the best team in the country, while providing an enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding experience for our athletes.
VI Raiders football will teach all participants important skills and values they need to be successful in life – commitment, discipline, courage, teamwork, respect, preparation, accountability, how to overcome adversity, and how to compete on and off the field.
Everyone who is a member of the VI Raiders football program can take pride in being a part of one of the greatest experiences a young man can participate in.
FOUNDATION
The Raiders Football team was started in 2005. Since inception, the Raiders have won 9 BCFC Championships and 3 National Championships. They have also participated in another 2 National Championships and 4 Inter-Gold games. This has been an unprecedented run of success in its short history, one that has not been duplicated in the CJFL. In 2018, to honour our unprecedented successes, were inducted into the B.C. Football Hall of Fame.
This success has been built upon a solid foundation that carries forward in trying to fulfill the team’s Mission Statement.
The team’s success on the field is only matched by the success of its players and coaches, off the field. Numerous players and coaches have gone onto careers in U Sport, while others have become very successful in life.
The Raiders are committed to carry forward with helping young men, on and off the field, to continue being a championship program.
CHAMPIONSHIP
Winning is in our DNA. Since 2005, the Raiders have captured eight BCFC Championships and three CJFL National Championships, cementing our legacy as one of the CJFL’s most dominant programs. We are the only team in BCFC history to be inducted into the BC Football Hall of Fame, a testament to our sustained excellence and impact on the sport. Our championship culture is built on elite coaching, disciplined athletes, and a commitment to success on and off the field. Each title represents not just victory, but the countless hours of preparation, sacrifice, and determination that define the Raider mentality. With a history of success and a future driven by ambition, the Raiders continue to set the standard in junior football.
RECORDS
The VI Raiders are synonymous with excellence, holding some of the most prestigious records in CJFL history. Andrew Harris, one of the most decorated players in Canadian football, set records for most career touchdowns (84), most career points (504), and most rushing yards in a season (1,476). Jordan Yantz leads in career passing yards (10,728), while Whitman Tomusiak holds the record for most career receiving yards (2,875). As a team, we’ve shattered records, including the 2011 season’s 551 total points and 70 touchdowns—both all-time highs. These milestones reflect our relentless pursuit of greatness.
