VI Raiders Tackle Cancer on Vancouver Island
August 20, 2009
Canadian Junior Football team and 2008 Canadian Bowl Champions, the VI
Raiders, are excited to announce a new charity partnership with BC Cancer
Foundation. In an effort to raise awareness and funds for cancer research
through the BC Cancer Foundation, as well as to boost fan support of the
Raiders, a new ticket option is available for fans wanting to contribute to
this great cause.
"We are calling it Lucky 13 Tickets. For $13 fans will receive a game
ticket, souvenirs and draws for autographed Raiders merchandise with $3 per
ticket going to the BC Cancer Foundation," says Cole Renner, VP of Business
Operations for the VI Raiders. "I think it's safe to say that almost
everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another. This is a chance
for our fans, sponsors and supporters to help out a great cause and show
support for British Columbians battling this disease."
"As 50 per cent of Island patients travel over the Malahat for treatment,
this is an incredible way to support cancer research and your local Junior
Football Club," says Zoë Campbell of the BC Cancer Foundation's Nanaimo
office. "The partnership will help ensure continued research to advance the
detection, prevention and treatment of cancer, to benefit all patients. All
the funds raised will stay on Vancouver Island to support the vital research
at the BC Cancer Agency."
Tickets are available for every game and the BC Cancer Foundation will be
out in full force for the September 26th game against the Victoria Rebels.
