Raiders go to Camp
April 2, 2009
On March 28th Bronson Nichol and Andrew Harris headed down to Crofton for the annual Health and Wellness Youth Conference at Qwanoes Camp. There they were greeted by 20 enthusiastic kids who put them through their paces with an hour long football game.
The game was not without its intensity as Harris and Nichol established a gentleman's bet before the game began. On the line, a foot rub for Nichol from Andrew Harris (the future BC Lion) but if Harris' team won the game, Nichol was sentenced to the "Swing of Doom", a 90 foot drop swing that has made many a tough man cry.
The game ended up being a training clinic put on by Harris' "Screaming Eagles" squad. The final score was a devastating 43-21. Nichol, due to time constraints (as he claims), was unable to fulfill his end of the deal and did not do the "Swing of Doom".
The event was a complete success with the Raiders being able to demonstrate their level of fitness and football knowledge with the kids in a game that included everyone. "The kids had fun and I know the players did too," said Cole Renner, VP with the club. "I know the boys didn't want to leave at the end, which just means that everyone got something special out of this event. We can't wait to come back next year."
The VI Raiders would like to thank the staff of the Health and Wellness Youth Conference for their invitation and hospitality at the event.
